On August 30, 2024, Bishop Roger Barry Weaver, 74, of Lexington, South Carolina left this realm of earthly existence and entered the heavenly realm into the presence of his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, George E. and Will Nell Henderson Weaver of Dalton, Georgia. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Mary Frances Campbell Weaver, his daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and Jason Reynolds of Lexington, South Carolina. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa and Doyle Dobson of Rocky Face, Georgia and Cathi and Rick Fewell of Madison, Alabama, by nieces Ashley Dobson (Chuck) Phillips, Tyler Jester, Kelly Campbell (Robb) Collis and Laura Dobson (Silvio) Barbini, by his nephew Derek (Sarah) Dobson and great nieces and nephews. In his twenties Roger was a sports enthusiast. He graduated from Georgia Southern College with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management and worked in various jobs in the field of recreation including serving as Director of the Murray County Recreation Center in Georgia. But his career choice was abruptly changed from the moment he surrendered his life to Jesus in February 1981. A week after he met Jesus, he said the Lord audibly spoke to him and said, “I want a people that will let me be God” and he answered that call. He fell so in love with Jesus, the rest of his life was spent focused on bringing others to know the love of God and to introduce them to the God of love and mercy that he had come to know. After his graduation from New Life Bible College in Cleveland, Tennessee, he was ordained as a minister in 1983 with The Missionary Church International, an interdenominational group of churches and ministries focused on “getting people into heaven and heaven into people.” He has served as a Bishop in The Missionary Church International for over 30 years. He founded Cup of Life Ministries in Chatsworth, Georgia engaging in various forms of evangelism in mission fields at home and abroad. In 1991 he moved to South Carolina to join His House Ministries in West Columbia. He pastored Suburban Baptist Church for a few years before founding Meeting Street Chapel as a part of His House Ministries and has continued his ministry at His House first as Director and then as President and remaining Senior Pastor at Meeting Street Chapel until his death. Roger loved his family greatly and considered all the men that became a part of the His House Grace Men’s Program a part of his family. He was a man of great integrity, a man who truly walked with God every day. He had a great laugh and was full of God’s joy. His response to everyone who asked, “What is happening at His House, or what have you been doing lately, Roger?” was “Jesus, just Jesus.” He requested that he have no funeral preached and truly he preached his own funeral with his life. Roger requested that all who would want to remember him in any way would come with no sadness but great joy to a celebration party where the Lord’s goodness and mercy would be lifted up, the name of Jesus would be praised, and all would be welcome to participate in food, music, remembrances and praise. This celebration will be held at noon, Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Caughman-Harman at Southland Memorial Gardens at 820 West Dunbar Road in West Columbia, SC 29170. The 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will precede the celebration at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to His House Chapel Building Fund would be appreciated. Checks may be mailed to His House Ministries, 765 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC 29169 or donations can be made through His House website HisHouseSC.org.

Changing lives is really what His House Ministries is all about and no where is that more evident than in the very heart of our local ministries.
Rev. Garland Ramsey founded His House Ministries in 1974. God gave him a vision for taking things that were being discarded and using them to change the lives of homeless and alcoholic men. Thus, a Thrift Store, Grace Mens Program and Mens Mission were established.
When Rev. Roger Weaver joined His House Ministries in 1991, he brought a renewal of the vision for the spiritual development of the programs. The influence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was built into every feature of every activity of His House Ministries.
Since that time, thousands of men have received shelter, food and Christian rehabilitation services through His House Ministries Grace Mens Program.
His House Ministries receives NO federal, local or United Way funding, but relies solely on donations of used items that can be sold in our Thrift Stores to fund all activites.
Daily services are held at Meeting Street Chapel and are open to the public.
